Come Visit the Trees
All the trees are being shown at the Danforth Museum in Framingham until August 17th.
Go see the trees and tell me what you think. Summer programs will be organized
around the trees.

For those who have never been to the museum - it is just 2.5 miles from the Natick Mall.
I am hoping to go on several Sundays and if you are interested in organizing a kids
group, I will gladly do a reading. Let me know via email when you want to go.

JFK Library: Make A Difference Award
The Kennedy Library annually recognizes up to 100 middle school students from across Massachusetts for the difference they have made in their communities through service projects. I was nominated this past year by Thomas Putnam, the Library's director. I felt very honored to speak in front of 600 people and describe my project.
I also got the chance to meet the Massachusetts State Treasurer, Steve Grossman who was very nice and invited all the participants to the State House to stop by for ice cream anytime!! I will take him up on that offer soon.

That Special Tree
Searching for my blogspot on the internet, I came upon a very beautiful article that Maureen Wartski published after reading about my Giving Tree Project. I have not me her.
She writes, "What a wonderful project, I thought—and then the inevitable question: what sort of tree would I have chosen to create? Out of all the trees that I have loved, which one has inspired me the most?"
Read it and tell me what you think.
Lastly she asks, "What would your tree be like? "

The Goddard House and Cabot Park Village
During February break, I visited the Goddard House in Brookline, an assissted living community and Cabot Park Village in Newton, an independent senior community. Paul McDonald, a very upbeat and enthusiastic professional storyteller - or as he calls himself "the bad penny that keeps coming back!" invited me to talk at the Goddard House after seeing my article in the Boston Globe. After my presentations there, Chris Kjellson and Paul asked me very different kinds of questions. Paul wanted to know what kind of tree I would be if I were going to be one. He also asked how I would explain any of my trees to a blind person. I told the group that I would like to be a Maple tree because I like the colors of the leaves and I like the sweetness of the maple syrup. If I were gig to explain a tree to a blind person, I would use it with the following poem by Joyce Kilmer that we had just discussed in the group.
Renee Shapiro, one of the residents at Cabot Park Village invited me to talk and we had a very interesting and lively discussion. They will be publishing an article about my visit in their monthly newsletter.
Thank you both for being such supportive fans!!!

Talk with Francesca
On January 29th, I was interviewed for the radio by Francesca Bastarche who has a one hour live show every Sunday on 1510 am Revolution Boston. I was a little nervous, but I got the chance to spread the word about my project. You can listen to it here. http://talkwithfrancesca.com/
I also took two trees with me, one by Mike Stilkey and another by Andrew Fish. They are both beautiful and very unique. Francesca is also an artist with an interest in helping others. I hope to have her make a tree next year!!
